Finding gratitude in the little things isn’t always easy—especially when life is hectic. As a mom of three, I understand just how overwhelming it can be. But taking a moment to practice gratitude helps me to stay grounded. I’m here to share some simple ways I find gratitude in those small, often overlooked, moments. Hopefully, these ideas are as helpful to you as they are to me.
Start with the Basics
When everything around you feels like it’s spinning, pausing to thank Jesus for the basics can bring a deep sense of calm. A roof over our heads, food on the table, clothes on our backs, and bills that are somehow paid—these are things we can easily take for granted. Even on tough days, these are blessings that remind me that God is caring for our needs.
Try to practice this in your busiest moments. If the kids are bickering, the laundry pile is growing, or the list of chores feels like it could go on forever, take a deep breath and thank God for His provision. Let Him handle the rest.

Write it Down
One of my favorite ways to practice gratitude is to jot down three things I’m thankful for each morning. You don’t need anything fancy—even a sticky note will do. Keep your list nearby so you can refer to it throughout the day. This small practice helps me reset when things start to feel overwhelming.
I sneak in this habit whenever I find a quiet moment, whether after dropping the kids off at school or (a secret between you and me) taking a quick breather in the bathroom! Those few minutes to reflect on gratitude can set the tone for the entire day.

Book Recommendation: The Life-Changing Power of Gratitude
Gratitude has the power to change perspectives, and few books express this better than The Life-Changing Power of Gratitude: 7 Simple Exercises that will Change Your Life for the Better. I picked up this book not expecting much, but it left me in tears and with a fresh perspective. This book emphasizes that gratitude, when it truly comes from the heart, can soften anger, dissolve envy, and replace resentment with peace. I’d recommend it to anyone looking to deepen their gratitude practice.
Finding Gratitude in the Little Things
Gratitude doesn’t have to be grand or loud; it often grows quietly in the heart. As I go through my day, I try to pause and find those little moments to say thank you. Even when things don’t go as planned or when the day feels chaotic, gratitude is my reminder of all the small blessings God is giving me along the way. It’s a practice that doesn’t just change my outlook—it transforms my heart and my home.
